Student Activities

  1. The University of Sana'a ensures to its students the right to carry out their student activities and the right to assemble and form their union entities, manifested by the Student Union; as well as the right to form scientific associations; all in accordance with the law governing and regulating these things. Sana’a University also provides its financial and moral support to these student frameworks and, to this end, it includes in its budget some funds dedicated for some students activities that are defined in the University’s Financial Regulations.
  2. Student Scientific Associations can be established in Sana’a University. The Sana’a University Policies shall identify the objectives (tasks) and compositions of these associations, their elections procedures and the means by which they will achieve their objectives.
  3. Sana’a University encourages the formation of student activity frameworks or committees at the university or college level. The common feature in this activity shall be students' hobbies, interests and cultural, artistic, literary, environmental and social preferences; provided that the university’s student activity system/policy shall identify all aspects related to these students frameworks in terms of its objectives, compositions, elections procedures and the means by which they will achieve their objectives.
  4. FMHS Council shall elect one FMHS professor to act as youth leader who will coordinate the student activities with various student scientific associations and student frameworks, as well as with other leaders of FMHS scientific associations.
  5. Sana’a University shall contribute to the expenses of scientific associations and student activity frameworks as provided for in the respective regulations.
  6. The Rector of Sana’a University shall issue a regulation/policy system governing scientific associations and student activity frameworks, including regulations and by-laws regulating the elections. All these shall be in a way that doesn’t contradict neither the applicable laws in force nor the provisions of this regulation/by-law.
  7. Sana’a University shall have the right, by a decision to be issued by its Rector, to establish one or more Funds to support its students, for social solidarity of its student or to support its excellent and creative students. That decision shall include the rules governing all aspects related to that Fund(s).
  8. A voluntary Student Union shall be established at Sana’a University that shall exercise its activities in accordance with its statutes and internal regulations and in a manner that is not inconsistent with applicable laws and regulations.
  9. Ranger Clusters shall be established in Sana’a University and shall voluntarily operate in accordance with its statutes, internal rules and in a manner not inconsistent with applicable laws and regulations.
  10. The Student Affairs Deanship of Sana’a University shall coordinate student activities that are sponsored by the University.


The Medical Education Development Centre (MEDC) was established by the decision of the Sana’a University Rector No. 672 of 2002. It marks an important event at FMHS since it is competent to review FMHS curricula and train FMHS teachers on the development of educational programs and on modern methods in the teaching and learning processes. Its duties include promoting the development and implementation of the Continuing Education Plan. This center oversees the Quality Assurance & Academic Accreditation Unit and the Sana’a University Journal of Medical Sciences.
